What can I learned from the waiting season

Bible verse: But those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength

When we’re in seasons of waiting, it can be hard to see the purpose in it. What can I possibly learn from the waiting season? It’s almost cruel, it feels unfair. And it can feel like there’s no silver lining. Nothing good could be extracted from the pain.

If you’ve been around here for some time, you would know about my infertility journey. That was long and hard fought season of waiting. After many years of waiting, two children later, and still hoping and trusting God with my story, I can earnestly say that my season of waiting was exactly what I needed to become who I am today.

Gosh, in the trenches of it, I definitely couldn’t see how it was forming me. It was blurry and the uncertainty of the future was overwhelming.

The one lesson, perhaps the greatest one, I learned in the wait, was my need for God. Despite how long I had been walking with the Lord or how many Bible verses I knew, still, I was in need of a Savior.

Seasons of waiting make us aware of our need, our frailty, our limited capacity.
Seasons of waiting uncover the heart issues. There’s always something we can surrender.
Seasons of waiting teach us that we are in a rush. But God is patient.

And as we wait and realize our deep need for God, we learn what courage looks like. Courage isn’t always holding up a sword and going into the battle field.

Courage in the wait looks more like humility.
Courage in the wait is facing your fear instead of running from it.
Courage in the wait is being honest for the first time.
Courage is in the wait is crying and being vulnerable before the Lord.

In turn, when we realize our need and find courage in unexpected ways, we build resilience and gumption. It’s a resilience that flows into the next seasons of our life.

And when we find ourselves in the wait again (there’ll always be something we’re trusting and waiting on God for), we’ll have built up the courage to hope and believe again.

The deep valleys of waiting teach us to face every delay with courage, every setback with strength.

If I can face this season, surely I’ll be able to face the next one.

After all, the One my soul needs is with me.

Have you ever felt stuck in a waiting season? How did you get through it?

Amen! It can be painful in the process. But God!!! He doesn’t wait a hurt, a tear or a set back. He is in it, in the little and the big. Love this sis. So encouraging.

Give me COURAGE in the waiting Lord 🤍
