2019 Christmas Wishlist

It’s not unusual for there to be a list waiting for my husband of the special things I’d like for Christmas. This year was a bit different. He had to ask me a few times for one. I guess I just felt content. I don’t feel like anything is missing. We are very fortunate to have everything we need. Anything else is extra and I’m super thankful for that.

But after his persuasion and to make shopping a lot easier (lol), I created a wishlist. Mostly filled with vinyl records to add to my collection and one hot ticket item. Many of these items can be bought on Amazon. So if you’re searching for last minute gifts, this wishlist will be helpful.

iPad and Apple Pencil
I’ve been wanting an iPad for a while so I can work save time when creating new hand lettered work. Also, if I’m on the go, it would be so helpful to have a “mini laptop” with me.

Mama Necklace
For all the moms out there, this is the cutest and most thoughtful gift. I’ve got my eyes on these two necklaces. The handwritten one is from Stella & Dot and the Disk Necklace is from Made by Mary.

Letterboard
I think I’m pretty late to the game with this one but I’d still love to have one for styled picture sessions or future photo sessions with baby Phoenix 😉 These are so popular that you can get them for a great deal on Amazon or you can support a small business by shopping for them at Letterfolk.

Makeup Brush Set
If you’re into makeup (or if you’re like me and just hate cleaning your brushes and need extras) then getting makeup brush sets during the holidays is the way to go. There are such great deals during this time of year. You can get these on the Sephora website (Gold Set and Black Set) and/or the Ulta website (Silver and Black Set & Purple Set).

Adidas Casual Sneakers
I’m loving the snakeskin trend right now and these sneakers are both comfortable and fashion forward. I love the neutral colors in these! I’ve seen them at Macy’s and Finish Line. There are other color options in this same style if snakeskin isn’t your thing.

Vinyls, vinyls, and more vinyls
I’m a music lover. I’ve been singing and performing since I can remember. And I just love all types of music. The best present you can give someone who loves music is either a record player or records for their record player. Every Christmas I add new vinyl to my wishlist. Here are some of the ones I have my eye on: Queen Greatest Hits, Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder, The Diary Of Alicia Keys, The Bodyguard Soundtrack (this one I will have to scavenger on the internet or at local record store), Jesus Is King by Kanye West, The Greatest Hits Spice Girls, Elvis’ Christmas Album, and Ultimate Sinatra.

Leather Jacket
This is a staple piece in my closet. I use it to add some edginess to my outfits or to dress up a casual dress. There are so many stores you can get an affordable faux leather jacket. The one pictured is from Topshop and is currently on sale at Nordstrom.

Hope you liked my wishlist! What’s on your wishlist this year? Any good sales you can share with me? 😉

Writing A Letter To Yourself

Hand written letters, feather pen, light-airy colors

One of my favorite things in the world is receiving a note or letter from friends and family. For my birthday, I’d much rather receive a thoughtful card than a gift. I love words and I love paper goods.

The most wonderful thing about receiving a letter is that you can save it. It becomes a keepsake. And you can go back in time whenever you read it. It’s sorta like you’re transported to that moment, time, and place.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner (can you believe it?!), you’ll most likely write a few letters to friends, family, and a significant other. But before you start writing to others, how about you give yourself a very powerful gift? Writing a letter to your future self.

Here’s why you should write a letter to yourself:
1. Motivation
Six months, a year, or even in 10 years, you’ll want to see how far you’ve come. In moments when life gets tough, you’ll want and need a reminder of all the good that has happened and all the progress you’ve made in life. And you’ll be reminded of how strong you are. It will motivate you to keep going.

2. Thankfulness
As you look back and hear your younger self, you’ll probably be transported to that time and place. You’ll read the struggles and challenges you were facing at the time. You’ll be reminded of answered prayers. And you’ll be thankful for the way God brought you through it all.

3. Laughter
I have letters and journals of when I was in high school and man, do I laugh my butt off when I read my teenage words. Looking back at yourself, even if it’s just six months, may make you laugh. Specifically, at how dramatic you can be sometimes (I’m talking about myself here).

So have I convinced you?

If I have then here is what you can include in a letter to yourself:
1. Questions
Ask yourself questions about your life. Where are living? How’s your job or career going? How is your family? Do you have any new friends? What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend? What are you praying for?

2. Life Lessons
Write a few life lessons you are currently learning. Maybe you can give your future self some advice or a reminder to keep working on the life lessons that mean the most to you.

3. Prayer & Goals
Make a list of the prayers you are currently bringing before the Lord. You can also include some prayers that have been answered recently. Also, make a list of goals or aspirations you are working on and asking God to help you accomplish.

4. Habits
Include some habits you are creating and habits you are trying to break. Perhaps you can briefly write how you’re working on this. It can be your eating habits, morning ritual, or relational habits.

You can write a physical letter, put it away in a secure place you’ll remember about, and set a reminder on your calendar or phone to open it on a certain date. Another option is to do a virtual letter via FutureMe and you’ll receive the letter straight to your inbox on a specific date you select.

Christmas Wish List

At the end of November, I start asking all my family members to send me their Christmas Wishlists. I really love seeing what’s on their list because I want to give them exactly what they’re wishing for. But also because I like getting ideas for things I may need or want for myself or other loved ones.

We can’t give our family everything on their list for Christmas but it’s a great resource to have for any other future occasion like birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Valentine’s day.

So, I’m sharing my Christmas wishlist to help you get ideas for any last minute gifts you may need to get. It has alllll sorts of things. And it features some of my favorite makers, Amazon favorites, and some luxury items. And if you’ve bought all your gifts, then just add some to your wishlist 😉
